The renowned publisher has welcomed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Poor Response
Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the need for a clearer vision.
The president noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Strategic Acquisitions
The news echoes a comparable step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.
Here is the entire content from Ismailer's memo:
Team—
I understand you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Last time I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most driven and talented designers we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that partnership to continue.”
Through your commitment and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the need for a more distinct brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the criticism to mind and overhauled Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to deliver on its promise to our fans.
The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable development you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of 31st Union. Following several months of discussions, he starts with us on the specified date.
His guidance and background in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having devoted the past decade and a half creating and leading some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
I invite you all in receiving Ben soon. We are all looking forward to persist observing the evolution of the game in the weeks to follow.
David

Title Details and Vision
Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a community playtest. Then, the developers presented the game as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an exciting evolution on the genre."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the official summary explains. "Take on the opponents with fresh skills, challenges, and challenges that shift every session. Will you withdraw carefully with your hard-earned loot? Or take a risk, gamble everything, and trust your squad can secure victory? The choice is in your hands."
The game lacks an announced launch window or platforms, but players can expect further news as production progresses.
